Neketa - Pure Bred Siberian Husky

This is Nakita.  He is a full-blooded red and white Siberian husky.  He is seven years old and is bi-eyed, meaning he has 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye.  They may not match, but I think they can look right into your soul!  Nakita had been living outside on a chain for the past few years, although there was a time when he was in the house.  Well that time has come again and he seems pretty happy about it.  We are refreshing his memory on the house-training and are working on crate training as well.  He came to ODTR with yeast infections in both ears, a wound on his neck and plenty of tics tagging along for a free ride.  He is now getting ear cleanings followed by medicine in his ears, antibiotics for the infected wound on his neck and frontline plus to rid him of his free-loaders.  I think Nakita understands he is being helped, because he just sat there for over a half hour while his neck was cleaned and debris was removed and he moans when you rub his ears to get the medicine all the way down.  He is pretty laid back for a husky, but he will run if he gets out.  This is typical of a husky, because they are known escape artists and were bred to run while pulling sleds.  Huskies have lots of fur and blow their coats twice a year, although they do shed year-round.  This does not make them outside dogs!!!  They and your house just need more maintenance, but their love and antics make it worth it.  Nakita walks well on leash, rides well in the car and also knows how to sit, shake with both paws and speak, but in true husky fashion can be stubborn and refuse at times.  He also gets along well with other dogs and loves people.  He seems more cautious around men so there may be something in his past that will require time for him to fully trust again.  Nakita is heartworm negative and on prevention, neutered, up to date on shots and is microchipped.  The only thing he needs now is a good, loving home with a family to call his own.
