Piper - Australian Shepherd/Mix - ADOPTED!!!!
Meet Piper! Piper is a 9 week old aussie mix puppy. She was left in the night drop box of a high kill shelter in the deadly cold of winter. ODTR was called to save this beautiful baby girl. Now Piper is learning what it means to have a warm bed, food, and all the love a great little girl like this deserves. Piper gets alog great with other dogs and kids. She has been wormed and will be receiving her first puppy shots.
Kody - Lab Mix - ADOPTED!!!
Meet Kody! Kody is a lab mix puppy. Kodys owner contacted on ODTR team member stating "If you don't come get this pup and his mom I'm gonna take them to the woods and shoot them both!" NO! They are now safe in the care of ODTR!! Kody and his momma (Brandy) are learning what it's like to have love, food, and a warm place to sleep every night. Some of which they'd never known until now. Kody is just turning 8 weeks old and is now able to leave his mother's care. He is such a fun loving playful little boy! He has been wormed and is UTD on his puppy vaccinations. Wouldn't you love to give his little guy a forever home?
UPDATE:
UPDATE:
Rising at 5AM for a 2.5 hour trip to Indy was painful on my old bones. Kody woke right up of course, and wanted to play and wake up the whole family – which he was very successful at. I had to laugh – it really was cute. It also made it easier for my little dogs and husband to say goodbye to our sweet houseguest. J We arrived at our meeting spot a little late due to the ridiculous snow (can you tell that I am absolutely sick of winter?!?), but met Kodi’s adoptive mom at 9AM. I love to see their faces when they get to meet their new furry family member… and this one was just as sweet as any. Kody jumped into her arms just like he had always been there. Those moments tug at my heart and make me so happy/sad at the same time. But when I watched that sweet pup wiggle and try to kiss her and go play at the same time… it really was a priceless moment for me. This is the adoptive families first comments: “Kodi is doing GREAT. He never had an accident inside the house. He has let us know each time he needs to go. He slept thru the nite. He wore my daughter out & my daughter wore him out.” I am looking forward to more updates. I still miss my little Kodi Monster – but being able to see the beautiful picture of him with his new little girl… sure helps! J
Riley- Basenji Mix - ADOPTED!!
Say hello to Riley! Riley is a 9 month old Basenji mix (again, just an educated guess on his breed) who was surrendered to our favorite shelter! The shelter contact ODTR to save this sweet little guy.,,. and SWEET he is! Riley loves to lay on your lap, cuddle in your bed and follows you everywhere you go! We don’t know why this perfect dog ended up at a high kill animal shelter – but we do know that he will only know love for the REST of his life. Riley is neutered, housebroken, UTD on vaccinations, and ready to go! Riley LOVES kids and other dogs. He would make the perfect family pet. Can he please be yours? Update: Riley has been adopted into a sweet family that is looking forward to a perfect life... and Riley couldn't be in better or more loving hands. CONGRATULATIONS RILEY!!!
Paco - Chihuahua - ADOPTED!!!!!
Paco is a sweet little man. This 5 lb dog was found as a stray and taken to a high kill shelter. The shelter staff completely fell in love with Paco and asked for our help. Paco is 4 years old , and wants nothing more than to lay on your lap and snooze the day away. He would be perfect for a retired family or person that spends a lot of time at home. He seems to travel well also. Paco will never have the high energy of a younger dog, he won’t beg to play with toys or wake you up in the middle of the night for attention. But Paco will look you in the eyes and melt your heart. He’s such a sweet boy. He is housetrained (but must be on a strict potty schedule – because he is tiny!!), and will be UTD on his shots before adoption. Paco is not neutered – and our vet doesn’t recommend it at his age/weight. Paco does not mark in his foster home. We think Paco is pretty great – and I truly believe you would too!
Roscoe - Bernese Mountain Dog/Husky Mix
Roscoe is our Bernese Mountain Dog/Husky mix weighing in at 65 lbs. We are only guessing at his heritage – because Roscoe came to us from a high kill shelter. This great boy has so much personality! He loves, loves, loves everyone and every dog he meets! He is up for some fun and he also loves to cuddle. Roscoe is housetrained, crate trained, neutered, UTD on shots – he is the perfect companion to dog buddies and home buddies alike. Some dogs just have personality PLUS – and that is our sweet Roscoe. When you meet this big boy – your first comment is “OH! He is GORGEOUS!” and then you will see beyond his looks to his fun personality. Everyone is a friend and potential playmate. Roscoe LOVES to be outdoors – but we will only adopt him as an indoor family dog. He LIVES for companionship (although he does well on his own). You would never be lonely with Roscoe around.
Tiny Tunes - Great Pyrenees/Lab - ADOPTED!!!
Tiny Tunes is a Lab/Great Pyrenees mix, 8 month old male. Tiny comes from a family that loved him very much but realized that he was more dog than they were able to take care of after his foster momma fell and broke some bones (not due to anything with Tiny). He’s a really smart boy who is eager to learn and eager to please. Tiny already weighs a little over 100 lbs and still has some growing to do. This guy loves other dogs, children – just about anything you put in front of him – he loves LIFE! Tiny is neutered, UTD on all shots, housebroken – and perfect. What a lover bug!!
Freddy and Sissy - Bonded Rat Terriers
Freddy and Sissy are a bonded pair of 8 year old Rat Terriers. These two dogs are so sweet!! I have enjoyed getting to know them. They were turned over to a high kill shelter when their owners decided to move and not take these two adorable kids with them. ?? They are housebroken and neutered and spayed. We will make sure they UTD on their shots before adoption. Right now these two are learning to adjust in a new world – since theirs has turned upside down. Freddy (white face)still seems a bit sad… always looking for something or someone. He is beginning to understand that THIS is his new life and his former owners are not coming back. It’s sad for his foster momma to see – but she continue to encourage him to let go and be happy. It’s working. Sissy is a happy go lucky little girl and thinks life is pretty OK where she is now. Both are eating well and there is not one thing wrong with their house manners. They are perfect house guests. But they really need a home of their own. Sissy weighs approximately 20 lbs and Freddy is a little smaller, weighing approximately 15 lbs. Both are healthy and ready to spend the rest of their lives keeping their new companions perfect company!
Brandy - Catahoula Mix - ADOPTED!!!!
Please meet Brandy. Brandy is a 1 year old mix (Catahoula??) and weighs 55 lbs. She is a gorgeous brindle girl who is nothing but sweet and gentle. We were told to “Take Brandy and her pups (she had 7 of them!) today or I will take them into the woods and shoot them.” Of course we immediately found homes for every one of the sweet little pups – but Brandy was left vulnerable. We couldn’t stand the thought of this sweet dog looking into the eyes of her owner – while he pointed a gun at her and shot her to death. What a horrible life she has lived!! She is now safe with ODTR. Brandy is so forgiving and willing to love. She is a very optimistic young girl and is ready to have fun! She doesn’t seem to have any issues at all. Amazing!!! She is being housebroken, she will be UTD on her vaccinations, and spayed before adoption. She is a really wonderful dog. She has touched and broken all of our hearts. She deserves better.
